2023 Harvest Intern

Located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Lewis Wines was established in 2010 with the goal of producing world-class wines using only Texas grapes. Producing great wine starts in the vineyard, so we work our own vines and partner closely with our grape growers to bring you the best the state has to offer. Come experience harvest in this up-and-coming region!

We’re seeking an intern this season to assist us in the vineyard and cellar. We’re a small team and work together from picking to processing and managing fermentations. You can expect each day to be a little different while learning all aspects of production. We work with a wide range of grape varieties– Verdelho, Mourvedre, Tempranillo, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more!

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Sampling vineyards
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and vessels
  • Picking alongside the rest of the crew
  • Managing fermentations– performing punch-downs, measuring temperature and brix
  • Performing ad hoc duties as necessary

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work on your feet throughout the day
  • Previous cellar and/or vineyard experience preferred
  • Passionate about wine and winemaking
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule, allowing for flexibility, odd hours and overtime. We all work together until everything is done for the day.
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality, work effectively in a team environment and adhere to all safety and operating procedures
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

Our season starts in July and lasts until early October. Compensation is based on experience. Email doug@lewiswines.com to apply!
