Assistant Tasting Room Manager
Lewis Wines is a passionate, small family vineyard, winery and tasting room in Johnson City, Texas. We make 100% Texas wine and strongly believe that quality wine is made in the vineyard. Individuals on our team wear many hats and often assist in different areas of the business, wherever and whenever help is needed. We are looking for an Assistant Tasting Room Manager to support our overall business objectives, with an emphasis on the Tasting Room, in partnership with the owners.
This person will assist in building a professional operation that ensures exceptional service to our customers. We’re looking for someone with a passion for wine and who can lead a team of Tasting Room professionals with enthusiasm and respect. A successful candidate will have a basic understanding of wine production and must be energetic, adaptable and a team player. All leadership at Lewis Wines must be able to lead by example and perform all essential job functions of the team. We’re a small but mighty team with an “all hands on deck” attitude.
Essential Functions:
Works closely with owners and wine club manager in assisting day to day floor operations to ensure staff delivers extraordinary customer service while executing any/all required operational tasks.
Manages the execution of opening and closing procedures, restocking the tasting room, preparing for special events, point of sales system, customer communication, and housekeeping.
Pour wine for guests and educate them on Lewis Wine’s history, wine styles, and winemaking techniques.
Present and sell Wine Club memberships.
Maintains open communication with owners and staff regarding policies, goals, procedures and special event information.
Assists in training, supervising, scheduling, and motivating tasting room staff.
Maintains a consistent level of professionalism in all communication.
Works closely with owners to create promotional material, new guest service programs & offerings.
Perform other duties as needed.
Working Conditions:
Full time schedule, includes weekends and holidays
Occasional long and irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events
Ability to lift at least 45 pounds repeatedly (case of wine)
Requirements:
Must be 21 or older
Education: High School diploma or GED required
Experience: One to two years related experience
Passion for wine and viticulture
TABC Certification
Self-motivated and professional with the ability to multi-task
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency using technology (Google Drive, Microsoft Office, POS system, additional supporting software as needed)
